OK, if you are excited and can`t wait, here are a few things you need to know before going to Paris:

1. Make sure to bring a ‘How to Speak French’ handbook along because most of the Parisians don’t speak English

2. The Metro is the most efficient mode of transport

3. Red wine and Chardonnay are really cheap (that`s always a good thing to know)

4. Paris is known as The City of Light so if you can, you should experience Paris After Dark

5. You are never too old to have fun at Disneyland

6. If you have the money or the inclinations, get your cancan on at a cabaret show at the Moulin Rouge, or at least walk by at night when the place is lit up

7. If you are a family man check out the Grevin Wax Museum, the Paris Tropical Aquarium, visit the Museum of the Arts and Invention or something with a scare factor like the Museum of the Sewers of Paris. ( Don`t worry there is also plenty to keep the big kids entertained)

8. You can join Paris Walking Tours every day,  no matter if it rains or the sun shines

9. Have some French bread and cheese

10. The Latin Quarter is a good place to visit, and if you are a book-lover, the famous bookstore Shakespeare and Company

11. And the most important one – HAVE FUN AND ENJOY LIFE!!!

It’s a bit extreme that “most of the Parisians don’t speak English”. I’ve always found them to be friendly & helpful (in English) if you try to speak french & at least know “Hello, Goodbye, Please, Thank You & You’re Welcome”. This is from over 40 years ago to just 3 years ago.

In fact, those are helpful words/phrases in the language of any country you visit. Perhaps “Excuse me”, too.
