Palace of the Parliament, Romania
Bucharest`s Palace of the Parliament is considered to be the world`s largest, most expensive and probably the heaviest administrative building. This place is so colossal that its actually very difficult to take a photograph that shows off how big it really is.
It was built in 1984 by Nicolae Ceausescu, a very hated communist dictator. The neoclassical building covers a ground of 330.000 square meters, has 3.100 rooms and 20 stories from which eight are underground. In order to build this monumental structure one-fifth of the central Bucharest area was razed, including synagogues, 30 churches and more than 30.000 homes.
The total cost of the whole project was an unprecedented 3.3bn euros.
