Located just 2 km from the village of Karlukovo, Bulgaria, is one of the most famous caves in the Balkans called Prohodna cave or as the native`s call it “The Eyes of God“. The cave is 262 meters long with two entrances, one small from where a trail leads all the way to the big entrance passing through the highest cave vault in Bulgaria, reaching 45m of height. Since 1962 the cave has become a natural landmark in Bulgaria.
From the entrance you can see the rock arch called “Window” and two holes shaped like eyes that gaze upon you from the cave ceiling.
If you can get the angle right, you can picture a person`s face looking down on you, and on a rainy day it looks like the eyes are trickled with tears.
On a clear night you can even see the moon through the eyes which can be a bit of a scary or in any case an overwhelming experience.
