A British artist by the name of Jason deCaires Taylor has finally finished its underwater installation of some 400 sculptures . Today we offer you an exclusive sneak peek into the first ever underwater museum in Europe before it officially opens.
The museum is located deep under the azure Atlantic Ocean close to the shores of the Spanish island of Lanzarote off the coast of West Africa. The island, already known for its s lava fields will now go into the books as a host for the first ever underwater museum in Europe.
The Museo Atlantico consists of 400 life-like statues all created by Jason deCaires Taylor, who also most recently created sculptures for a similar installations in the Thames and in the Bahamas before that.
The author hopes that his work will sparkle some conversation and remind people for their collective responsibility of our global community as well as the significant climate changes our planet is going through.
On 25 February the museum will be officially open for all scuba divers and snorkelers.
