On an amazing landscape of giant granite boulders near the village of Hampi stands the former capital of the Vijayanagara Empire. It was famous for the busy bazaars which were a center point for international commerce, overflowing with precious stones and merchants from distant lands. The vast stretches of boulder-strewn hills and weirdly balanced rocks make this place stand from the rest. You can find beautiful temples, basements of palaces, remains of aquatic structures, ancient market streets, royal pavilions, bastions, treasury buildings….
There is a special event called “Hampi Utsav” organized every year in the first week of November. All the monuments are lighted in the night and a magic festival of dance and music begins.
