Machu Picchu, Peru
The mystifying ruins of Machu Picchu are located in the Cusco Region of Peru, South America. Often referred to as the “Lost City of the Incas, it is the most remarkable creation of the Inca Empire. For over a century the city served as a retreat for Incan ruler, but it was abandoned in the time of the Spanish Conquest. All the structures are built in complete harmony, matching the beautiful natural landscape. The most famous area of the city is the Sacred District of Machu Picchu where three primary structures can be found. They are: The Intihuatana (Hitching post of the Sun), The Temple of the Sun, and The Room of the Three Windows.
In 1983 it was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site and voted as one of the New Seven Wonders of the World in 2007. Today it`s a world famous attraction, a magical experience, a free trip back in time for all the tourist.
