The life of an archaeologist is probably less exiting than seen in the Indiana Jones movies. Every once in a while unbelievable archaeological discoveries are made which are very intriguing and often bring new fact to life. Sometimes a discovery can even shake the foundations of our existence. What we are about to present may be less popular than the Ark of the Covenant, but they are just as important and probably free of ancient spirits that can rip your face off.
The Unfinished Obelisk – Aswan, Egypt
Ordered by the great Hatshepsut (in the mid 1500 BC) the unfinished obelisk is the largest known structure of that kind located in the stone quarries in Aswan. It is one third larger than any ancient Egyptian Obelisk. As archeologists claim it was directly carved out of single giant peace of bedrock, but apparently cracks began to open and the project was stopped.
Today together with other unfinished object it is a part of an open air museum in Egypt, protected by the government.
