2. Savoca, Italy
Located between the cities of Messina and Taormina, high on a mountain hill stand the ruins of the Castello di Pentefur, safeguarding the historic Sicilian village known as Savoca. The 1000 year-old settlement resurfaced again thank to the movie “The Godfather”. Even today visitors can still walk in the footsteps of Michael Corleone and have a drink in the Bar Vitelli on Piazz Fossia.
When visiting Savoca, the Cappuccini Monastery is also a must.
