It makes my head spin just talking about it. I guess if you love hiking and you are just crazy enough to hold on for your dear life (literally), this is the place for you.The only good advice that I can give you is DON’T LOOK DOWN or DON’T GO THERE! And in case I forgot to mention you`ll be in China hanging of a mountain cliff thousands of feet in the air!
El Caminito del Rey
The word Hiking takes on a completely different meaning when you talk about “The King’s little pathway”. Its narrow pathways are pinned along the steep walls of a narrow gorge in El Chorro. It is one meter in width (3 feet 3″) and rises over 100 meters (330 ft) above the river below. Most of the path has no handrail and it’s in a state of total disrepair. And if that is not scary enough a lot of concrete blocks are missing along many parts of the trail. Consider yourself warned!
Hike to Mount LeConte
If you are a caveman and wildlife is your thing than take a hike through Tennessee’s Mount LeConte. There are five peaks and five different trails leading to each of the individual peaks. Everyone offers its own unique attractions. And it’s good to know Hikers can stay in an Appalachian Trail style shelter overnight for free. All you need is a permit and reservation from the National Park Service. Have fun!
Angel’s Landing in Utah
This trail is one of the narrowest in the world and it`s cut into solid rock. It leads to the top of Angels Landing and provides a spectacular view of Zion Canyon. The trail is 2.4 miles (3.9 km) long changes a lot of sceneries in the way. You should stay away when it is wet, icy or there is a possible thunderstorm. If you are afraid of narrow spaces heights you can sit this one out!
The Philippines’ Mount Pinatubo
First thing you should know that it`s a volcano that erupted in 1991. It attracts adrenaline junkies and it`s reserved only for the strong and brave who are willing to make the hike all the way to the crater. If you want a short version make sure you bring a 4WD vehicle and a rock climbing equipment. Don’t swim in the water and don’t forget to enjoy the view!
If you decide to go on this king of adventure, safety should be your primary concern. Always make sure you have the right equipment!
