You might remember an article we`ve published a couple of weeks ago titled “Science Says This Is The Ultimate US Road Trip You Can Possibly Take” in which Randy Olson, a Ph.D. candidate planned the best trip across America. That same guy just planned the best European Road Trip you can possible take.
In his calculation Olson, first picked out the best destination in Europe and then removed the ones that required traveling over water. The next step was to plug in all the stops into a Python code to calculate the shortest route between each destination.
Compared to the US road trip which was 13.699 miles long, the European road trip is a bit longer with 16.287 miles. You`ll need a total of 14 days of driving. If you don`t want to drive 24-hours a day each trip will require about three months to complete.
Since fuel is more expensive in Europe you`ll need to plan a bigger budget. As you can see you`ll also need to take a ferry ride, which will add up to your expenses and also complicate your trip a bit.
If you need a help planning a road trip of your own you can use RouteXL, where you can enter a total of 20 destinations.
